When a marketplace rejects a listing, it sends back a reason, and Osello shows it to you on the listing so you can fix the problem and resubmit. Here are the errors sellers hit most often and what each one means.
Where to see the errors
Most of the errors below arrive as a Changes Required badge: the marketplace named something to fix, so correcting it and resubmitting is the whole remedy. A Rejected badge means the marketplace isn't taking the product at all — see fix rejected listings for the difference.
Either way, open the listing's Submission Messages tab to read every message the marketplace sent — each row shows the severity level, the message, and (when the marketplace tells us) the exact field it applies to. The Submissions tab shows the outcome and rejection reason for each submission attempt.
A Submission Failed badge is different from a rejection: the submission never reached the marketplace at all. Hover over the badge for the reason. Sometimes it's a temporary server problem and you can simply resubmit; sometimes it's Osello's own pre-submission check reporting a value that's missing or invalid, in which case the reason names the fields to fix first.
Missing required field
Example: "Item is missing required field Product Length." The single most common rejection. The marketplace requires a field your listing didn't include a value for. Fill the named field on the Fields tab — or let a Prompt fill it — then resubmit.
Osello checks its own record of the marketplace's required fields before submitting, so a gap it knows about is caught up front rather than coming back as a rejection. This error now usually means the marketplace wanted something its published requirements didn't list, or the requirement is new. Fill the named field and resubmit either way.
Image requirements
Marketplaces enforce image rules. Target+, for example, requires primary images to be square and at least 1000 x 1000 pixels, and rejects images it can't download from their hosting location. Replace the image with a larger, square version and resubmit.
Invalid barcode
Most marketplaces require each variant's barcode to be a 12-digit UPC or 13-digit EAN with a valid checksum, and some block specific barcode prefixes. Typos, placeholder barcodes, and internal codes all trigger this. Correct the barcode on the variant and resubmit.
Duplicate barcode or SKU
The barcode already exists on the marketplace — either on another seller's item or on one of your own earlier submissions. The message usually includes the marketplace's instructions, which may involve contacting them to review or link the existing item.
Duplicate variants
If two variants in the same listing resolve to the same size and color combination, the marketplace treats them as duplicates and can reject the whole group. Remove or correct the overlapping variant, then resubmit.
Changes requested
Some marketplaces respond with a reason such as a product title issue. This isn't a hard rejection — the listing shows Changes Required, and updating the data the reason describes and resubmitting sends it back for another review.
Not authorized to list
Messages like "Seller is not authorized to list this item" mean the marketplace restricts that item, brand, or category and you need their approval first. Follow the instructions in the message — this is resolved with the marketplace, not in Osello.
Not carrying this product
Messages about assortment or SKU gating — "not part of current approved assortment", "SKU rationalization", "not carrying this product at this time" — mean the marketplace has decided not to sell the item. These show as Rejected and land under Inactive, because resubmitting won't change the answer. Take it up with your marketplace contact if you think it's wrong.
Not an error: still under review
"The product needs to be reviewed" or "The product has not been published yet" simply mean your listing is in the marketplace's review queue — that's the Pending Approval state, and no action is needed.
