Leg Length is a size-and-fit attribute Bloomingdale's collects for items in its Women's active bottoms department. It states how far down the leg the garment ends: full length, ankle, 7/8, capri, cropped, bike short or short. The field is optional and appears on the product page. Bloomingdale's stores it per SKU rather than on the style.
The rules
| Rule | Value |
|---|---|
| Required | No |
| Level | Variant (each SKU carries a value) |
| Maximum length | 254 characters including spaces |
| Format | One phrase, no trailing period |
| Content | The leg length type, plus the inseam in inches when known |
| Never include | Color details, or fit words that belong in Leg Silhouette |
Length types: full length, ankle, 7/8, capri, cropped, bike short, short. When the inseam is known, add it after the type: "Ankle length, approx. 27" inseam".
Women's active bottoms
This is the Women's active bottoms version of the field. Active lengths have their own vocabulary: 7/8 sits between capri and ankle, bike shorts run to mid-thigh, running shorts are simply short. Pick the term your line sheet uses and the images confirm. The cut of the leg goes in Leg Silhouette, the rise in Rise Type & Measurement and the edge finish in Hem description.
Examples
| Value | Verdict | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| 7/8 length | Good | Standard active term |
| Ankle length, approx. 27" inseam | Good | Type plus the inseam |
| Bike short, approx. 8" inseam | Good | Type and inseam for a short |
| Long | Weak | Not a length type shoppers filter on; use "Full length" |
| 27 inches | Weak | Inseam without the type |
| Ankle length in the black colorway | Weak | Color reference |
Common mistakes
- Using "cropped" and "7/8" interchangeably. 7/8 ends just above the ankle; cropped is shorter.
- Writing the inseam alone. The type is what the shopper reads first.
- Mixing the silhouette into the value ("Slim ankle").
How Osello fills this field
Osello fills Leg Length as an optional text field at the variant level, so every SKU of the style receives its own value. It reads the product description first, then the attributes, then the images, writes the length type, and appends the inseam in inches when the source states it. Since active bottoms are usually cut to one length across sizes, the same phrase normally lands on every SKU; if your data carries per-size inseams, Osello can use them. The value stays empty when the source gives no length. The rest of the attributes are in the Bloomingdale's field directory.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to include the inseam?
No. The length type on its own is a complete value. Add the inseam in inches when you know it.
Why is this field per SKU when the length is the same for every size?
Bloomingdale's stores it at the SKU level so brands with graded inseams can give each size its own number. If your inseam does not change by size, the same phrase repeats on every SKU.
Is "cropped" the same as "capri"?
No. Capri ends around mid-calf; cropped covers anything above the ankle. Use the more specific term when you can.
