Bloomingdale's Product Dimension 1 Field Guide

Product Dimension 1 is the first of Bloomingdale's free-text dimension slots: a place for one measurement or sizing detail about a specific size of the product, such as a length, an inseam or a heel height. It is optional, it is set per size, and it accepts up to 4096 characters, although Bloomingdale's shows it as a single line of product detail, so keep it to one short phrase.

Most apparel categories on Bloomingdale's have their own named version of this slot. Women's tops, bottoms, dresses, outerwear, jumpsuits and kids' apparel each carry a category-specific Sizing Information field that maps to the same first dimension slot, with exact phrases Bloomingdale's expects (see Sizing Information for women's tops as an example). When your category has one of those, fill it and leave this generic field alone. This field covers the categories that do not.

The rules

Rule Value
Required No
Level Variant, shared by every colorway of the same size
Maximum length 4096 characters
Category-specific instructions None; use the named Sizing Information field when your category has one

Osello's recommendations for the content, since Bloomingdale's sets no format for the generic slot:

  • One measurement or fit detail per slot. Put a second detail in Product Dimension 2.
  • Give measurements in inches and name the size they apply to: "Approx. 27" inseam, size 28".
  • Label estimates "Approx." and skip the field when nothing in your data supports a number.
  • No color, wash or price. The value is shared by every colorway of that size.

Examples

Value Verdict
Approx. 3.5" heel, size 8 Good
Approx. 33" from shoulder to hem, size M Good
Runs small Weak: that is what the Sizing Information field is for
Available in navy and black Weak: a color statement in a size-level field
84 cm Weak: metric, and no size named

How Osello fills this field

Product Dimension 1 is a variant-level text field grouped by size: Osello sets it once per size and every colorway of that size shares the value. The AI fills it from measurements in your product data and its listing images, and leaves it blank when it cannot find an answer rather than inventing one. You can guide the wording with custom instructions.

Frequently asked questions

Is Product Dimension 1 required on Bloomingdale's?

No. It is optional, and many categories use a named Sizing Information field in its place.

Does the value change between colorways?

No. It is grouped by size, so every colorway of size M shares one value and size L can carry a different one.

Which unit should I use?

Inches. Bloomingdale's shoppers see measurements in inches, and the related highlights and description fields expect inches as well.

Should I fill both Product Dimension 1 and Product Dimension 2?

Only when you have two separate details to give. One measurement per slot; leave the second blank when there is nothing to add.
