# Macy's Model's Measurements & wearing a size X Field Guide

> Model's measurement size 9 and she is wearing a M.
Plus size model measurements: 5'9" height; Size provided must match the product's size run. Max character limit of 254 characters (including spaces).

**Model's Measurements & wearing a size X** is the Macy's size-and-fit attribute that tells shoppers how tall the model in the photos is and which size they are wearing: "Model is 5'9", wearing size M". It appears in the size-and-fit block on the product page, is optional in the Macy's schema, is capped at 254 characters including spaces, and is a variant-level attribute tied to the images the variant uses.

The line is a reference point. A shopper who knows the model is 5'9" in a size M can judge from the photo where the hem will land on them, so the value is only useful when it is accurate and only relevant when a model is in the shot.

## The format

| Case | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Women's, alpha size | Model is 5'9", wearing size M |
| Women's, numeric size | Model is 5'10", wearing size 4 |
| Men's | Model is 6'1", wearing size 32 |
| Plus size | Plus-size model is 5'9", wearing size 1X |
| Off-figure imagery | (leave blank) |

Height uses the foot and straight-quote inch marks, "5'9"", and the size is written exactly as it appears in the product's size run.

## The rules

| Rule | Detail |
| --- | --- |
| Length | 254 characters maximum including spaces |
| Presence | Only when a model appears in the images; blank for flat lays, mannequins and ghost shots |
| Size | Must be a size in this product's size run |
| Source | Height and size come from the source data or the image descriptions |
| Guessing | Never estimate a height or a size from the photo |
| Level | Per set of source images. Variants that share the same images share the value |

## Examples

| Value | Verdict | Why |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Model is 5'9", wearing size M | Good | Format, height and a size in the run |
| Plus-size model is 5'9", wearing size 1X | Good | Correct plus wording, size in the plus run |
| Model is 6'0", wearing size 32x32 | Good | Men's pants sized as the product is sold |
| Model wears a small | Weak | No height, size not in the product's notation |
| Model is 5'9", wearing size S (product runs 1X-3X) | Weak | Size outside the run; a plus grouping needs its own model line |
| Model is approximately 5'8" | Weak | Height guessed, size missing |
| Model is 5'9", wearing size M (product shown on a mannequin) | Weak | No model in the images; leave blank |

## Common mistakes

- Copying the model line from the regular grouping onto the Plus or Petite grouping. Each special size grouping is its own Macy's product with its own images and its own model.
- Filling it because the field exists. Off-figure photography gets a blank.
- Quoting a size in the wrong notation. If the product sells in 0-14, the value says "size 4", not "size S".
- Putting the model line in [Sizing Information](/marketplaces/macys/fields/text-sizeand-fit1), where Macy's wants one of its stock fit phrases.

## How Osello fills this field

Osello checks whether the variant's source images show a model and, if so, looks for the model's height and worn size in the source data and image descriptions and writes them in Macy's format, using the plus-size wording when the size run is plus. It does not guess a height or a size, so the field stays blank when the images are off-figure or the source has no model information. The attribute is variant-level and shared across variants that use the same source images, so one value covers every size of a colorway photographed on the same model, and a colorway shot on a different model gets its own. Keep model information in Shopify, for example in image alt text or a [metafield](/help/products/using-shopify-metafields), so there is data to read.

Other size-and-fit attributes are in the [Macy's field directory](/marketplaces/macys/fields).

## Frequently asked questions

### Should this be blank if the photos are flat lays?

Yes. The attribute describes the model in the images. With no model there is nothing to state, and Macy's asks for it to be left empty.

### Which size do I write if the model wears a sample the product is not sold in?

Leave it blank or use a size from the actual run that the same images represent. The size given must be one shoppers can buy on this product page.

### Does every colorway need its own value?

Only when the colorways were photographed on different models. Variants that share the same source images share one value.

### Where does the plus-size model's height and size go?

In this attribute on the Plus grouping, written as "Plus-size model is 5'9", wearing size 1X". The Plus grouping is a separate Macy's product, so its model line is set separately from the regular one.
