# Approve AI-Edited Images Before They Go Live > How the image approvals queue works, why cropped and AI-generated images wait for a person, and what approving or rejecting one does to your listings. Osello's AI creates and edits images on its own — cropping a photo to a marketplace's required aspect ratio, replacing a background, outpainting the sides of a portrait shot. Those images don't go live unreviewed. Each one waits in **AI Images → Approvals** until someone on your team says yes. The point is that AI work never gets blocked waiting on you *and* never reaches a marketplace without a person having seen it. The AI keeps building your listings; the images it made queue up for a quick look. ## What lands in the queue An image waits for approval when either is true: - **It was made from another image.** Any crop, resize, background change, outpaint or AI generation — anything with an original behind it. - **An AI agent created it.** An image an agent produced during a chat, even if it isn't based on an existing photo. Everything else skips the queue entirely and is usable immediately: - Images that came in with your Shopify catalog or any other integration - Images you uploaded yourself - Any original image that wasn't made from another one **This includes automatic crops.** When a marketplace field requires a specific aspect ratio or a minimum size, Osello crops the image to fit as soon as the listing field is filled — and that crop enters the approvals queue like any other. On a new listing, expect a few images waiting for you. ## Listings wait on approval **A listing variant using an image that hasn't been approved can't be submitted.** The variant shows as *Incomplete*, and the reason says which image is waiting — for example, *"The selected image 'crop-4x5.jpg' is waiting for approval."* That's deliberate: an unapproved image is the same kind of blocker as a missing required field. Approve the image and the variant re-checks itself and goes back to *Ready*. Anywhere an image appears in Osello, a pending one carries a small amber warning badge in its corner. Click it to jump straight to that image's review page. The image's own detail page also shows an **Image Pending Approval** banner with **Approve** and **Reject** right there, so you can clear an image without a detour through the queue. ## Reviewing the queue Open **AI Images → Approvals** in the sidebar. The badge beside it counts how many images are waiting. The queue is oldest-first, so working top to bottom clears the backlog in the order it built up. Search and the usual image filters (SKU, style code, category, aspect ratio) all work here too, and the **Approval** filter switches between *Pending approval*, *Approved* and *Rejected* — so a past decision stays auditable after the fact. Click any image to review it. The review page shows the image large, plus: - **Original** — the image this one was made from, and a link to it - **Changes** — what this step changed, the full history if it's a version of a version, and a link to the AI chat that requested it - **Used by** — every listing and variant currently using the image - **Source products** — the products behind those listings ### Approve **Approve** clears the image for use and moves you straight to the next one waiting — you can work the whole queue without going back to the list. When you approve the last one, Osello takes you back to the Approvals page. To clear several at once, tick the checkbox on each tile in the queue (or **Select all pending on this page**) and click **Approve selected**. ### Reject **Reject** asks for a reason — it's required, and it stays on the record so anyone looking later knows why. Rejecting an image: - Removes it from **every listing and listing variant** using it, and re-runs those listings' content checks - **Keeps the image itself**, along with your reason, as the audit trail - **Leaves your product's own images alone** — rejecting an AI edit never changes your source catalog Because rejection touches live listings, it's one image at a time; there's no bulk reject. ### Changed your mind? Both decisions can be undone from the **⋯** menu in the top right of the review page — or from the same menu on the image's own detail page. An approved image offers **Unapprove**; a rejected one offers **Unreject**. Either way the image goes back into the queue for someone to look at again. Two things worth knowing: - Unapproving an image means any listing using it **can't be submitted again** until someone approves it. - Unrejecting **does not** put the image back on the listings the rejection removed it from. It returns to the queue, not to your listings — re-add it to the listing yourself if that's what you want. ## You approve images just by using them You don't have to visit the Approvals page for images you pick yourself. **Choosing an image approves it.** If you crop an image in Osello and then save it onto a listing field, or attach it to a product, that counts as your approval — the image clears the queue on the spot and the review page records that you were the one who cleared it.
